September kicks off festival season in New Braunfels and Gruene, TX, and the city comes alive with exciting events, perfect for locals and visitors alike. From the start of the Comal County Fair to holiday markets and tree lightings, the festive spirit builds throughout the fall and well into the holiday season.

Fall Events

The Comal County Fair, held in late September, sets the tone with a fun-filled week of rodeos, parades, carnival rides, and live music. Following close behind is the Gruene Music and Wine Festival benefitting the United Way of Comal County. Late October brings Dia de los Muertos, a colorful celebration of life, culture, and tradition that’s not to be missed. DDLM is hosted by the Chamber’s Hispanic Business Alliance.

As November rolls around, the city welcomes its most iconic festival, Wurstfest. This 10-day tribute to German culture is packed with delicious food, beer, music, and Bavarian-inspired fun. It’s the perfect reason to book a weekend getaway and enjoy the festivities.

December brings the magic of the holidays with the annual tree lighting and Wassailfest. These events create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, ideal for families and friends to come together. As you stroll through downtown New Braunfels, you’ll find vendors offering warm cups of wassail and holiday treats.

Holiday Markets

In addition to these major events, there are plenty of holiday markets to explore. The Weihnachtsmarkt Holiday Market at the New Braunfels Convention Center offers unique gifts and decor, while Gruene Market Days and Hollydays Market feature handmade items, crafts, and local goods.

With so many great accommodations available—from cozy bed and breakfasts to boutique hotels—out-of-town visitors can easily turn a day of festivities into a full weekend adventure in New Braunfels!
